Spotify download local files across computers

Listening on your mobile With Spotify Premium, your MP3 collection can also be enjoyed on your phone. All you need is a Spotify-friendly mobile. Syncing local files by WiFi If you have Spotify Premium and you want to sync your MP3s from your computer to your phone, just connect your mobile to the same network as your desktop computer. Now add your MP3s to a Spotify playlist, then open Spotify on your mobile to sync them for your offline pleasure.

This still seems to be true with the new Android version, provided "your MP3 collection" originates on your computer and you import it into Spotify there first. I was wondering if it was just me not being able to see my local files or have the local files from my computer sync to my phone.

From what you are suggesting it appears that you may only be able to play synced songs on the mobile device if you are still on the same WiFi network as the desktop, but if you leave it, you can only play them if they are downloaded to the device storage space.

Again, I don't want to download. I have thousands of songs on my harddrive that i'd like to play from the Spotify client on the mobile device. I thought it would support that without having to save them to the device. And, to further clarify my concern, when i followed the sync instructions above, the software automatically started downloading I only chose a small playlist , and gave me no options.

So those songs are now showing as a playlist under "downloaded" on the Playlists menu. With green downloaded arrows next to them - obviously indicating that they now sit in storage. I had a bunch of tracks synced and they worked once. There is no error message that I can find, and there seems to be no way to actually figure out what the issue is? I have the same problem, I have my the local files I want on my phone in a playlist. On my phone the listed is marked offline, however it does not sync my local files :S before with the old app it was able to play these songs, they're in mp3 format so nothing to indicate it shoudn't work.

Any one else have this specific problem, cause I don't mind spotify downloading the local files and all if it would just play my local files.. Either the new andriod app has some huge bugs or spotify is going a different way, in the last case spotify has lost a client because this is not what I signed up for.. Same problem for me.

But I accidentally pressed "uppdate info from gracenote" on one song and then it just appeared in my android "galaxy S2". What I did is put the local music desktop into a playlist. Then on your mobile device you will see the playlist you just created with the local files, but the files will look greyed out. Just click "available offline" and right away the files will sync and are playable.

What was happening to me was that I could sync my local files from the desktop to the phone but couldn't see them anywhere to be able to actually play them. But there should be an option to see local files that are synchronized from the phone, as if they were a playlist themselves.

It may have been stated but, I got it to work on my GS4. As above I added the files on my computer to a playlist and on my GS4 went to the playlist which was greyed out. There's a download button to press and there you go. So far so good. Play "local files" on my mobile device Solved!

In case you have lots of local songs and want to stream them all, I would suggest creating a new Playlist. Here, I already have a playlist called Local Songs where I will be adding local songs. Once you have added all the desired songs to a playlist, now we can move to the other device. Like, suppose I want to stream the same songs on my Spotify mobile, I just have to download the playlist there.

The only thing I have to take care of is that I am on the same Wi-Fi network as my laptop. Once you are connected on the same Wi-Fi network, go to the local songs playlist on the Spotify mobile app. After you have found the playlist, tap on it to open the playlist. You will see all the local songs within it but they will all be greyed.

You cannot listen to them as of now. So, we have to download the playlist in order to stream those local songs. To do that, tap the three buttons on the top right corner and tap on Download.

This is just a one time process and needs to be done every time you add a new local song. Now that you have downloaded the songs, you can move on to a different network and still, you will have the playlist available. To be precise, if your download preference is set to normal, each song would take approx 2. The thing which makes Spotify the best choice for music streaming is the enormous third-party app integration support.

Though most stream music from Spotify, you can download the music you like and all your playlists for offline listening. This is particularly useful if you have an unreliable internet connection or when you are traveling. When you chose to download Spotify music, it stores the downloaded songs or music locally in your hard drive. Let me show where Spotify stores the downloaded music and songs. Once you know the location, you can either back up the files or change the download location to somewhere convenient.

The above action will take you to the Settings page. If you are using Windows 10, simply copy and paste the below path to go to the Spotify offline storage folder. Only Spotify can decrypt them.

Which simply means that these files are pretty useless outside Spotify. This is very helpful when you want to reinstall Windows or Spotify.
